Aulson Brings American Legion/Community Together to Give Georgetown Community Gardens a Major Makeover
Wednesday September 02, 2026 GEORGETOWN – The town’s Community Gardens, which have been allowed to overgrow in recent years, is being made ready for a new plantings next spring thanks to a local businessman and several civic groups. This weekend, the American Legion Georgetown chapter gave Alan Aulson a check for $500 to buy winter rye seeds after it is cleared by Aulson’s herd of goats and volunteers.
Boxford: King’s Tree Farm and Nursery Sign Gets a Facelift
BOXFORD – Robert and Nancy King spruced up the welcoming signs to the King’s Tree Farm and Nursery in West Boxford this past weekend. I stopped and asked Robert what was up, and he explained how he and his wife Nancy had just given the old signage a facelift. Robert, who is the son of Dick King who passed away a bit more than a year ago, was raking the area around the scenic, winding entrance road to the farm.

Wednesday September 02, 2026 REGIONAL – For years since he lost his sight, a 93-year-old World War II veteran relied on his wife to read to him. But then she died, and his world got very small until he turned to the Lions Club for help. Bob LaFrance, a Lions Club member for 45 years and head of the club’s aid for the blind program for 20 years, delivered an Optelec clear reader that amplifies words of a book or flyer on a screen. Does Georgetown Have a Cancer Cluster?
Wednesday September 02, 2026 GEORGETOWN – The town’s Health Director has asked the state Department of Public Health to investigate whether the higher-than-normal number of cases here could be a cancer cluster. Health Director William Holt delivered a report to the SelectBoard last week that said he does not have the staff or resources to determine if the number of cancer cases in Georgetown constitutes a cluster or just that the town has residents who get more health checkups.
