GOODFORM – Melton mail for Inter Dom finals night
Tim O’Connor has done the form for the Melton meeting on July 18. Race 1: OVERVIEW: SEASIDE BOY (11) looks a pretty handy customer for the Emma Stewart barn, with his first three runs this campaign resulting in dominant wins before a narrow defeat at Melton on June 6. While he was beaten there, it was a very good run under the circumstances. He was caught parked in a slick mile rate and last half, with the flying Hoorah Philtra leading and winning.

Andy Gath will have one eye on Albion Park and the other on Melton on Saturday night. Like every racing love, Gath can’t wait for the epic Ladbrokes Inter Dominion clash between Leap To Fame and Captains Mistress. Meanwhile, Gath’s own stable star Catch A Wave, who has chased home Leap To Fame so many times in mega races, makes his racetrack return from persistent hoof issues. And Gath is adamant he can still be a feature race force. “No doubt.
Tears as Magri and Aruval combine for emotional Melton win
Grief, joy, heartbreak…they are just part of the emotions David Magri endured yesterday. To say the astute horseman underwent a rollercoaster ride just simply doesn’t cover do justice to what Magri experienced. Magri’s morning began with grief as the day marked the first anniversary since his wife, Kieley, passed away suddenly. Understandably, Magri “felt like an empty shell” as he trudged through his daily routine before preparing to drive at Melton Entertainment Park during the evening.

Tim O’Connor has done the form for the Friday night meeting at Beckley Park. Race 1: OVERVIEW: With LOWRIDER (6) out scratched, this race opens right up. FICTION FILE (5) struggles to win but often runs well and did just that when second in a race three of these contested at Ballarat last week. Never ending passion – harness racing farewells Ted Jepsen
There are people in harness racing whose statistics tell only a fraction of their story and Lockington horseman Ted Jepsen, who has passed away aged 91, was one of them. To generations of Victorian participants, Jepsen was a trainer, a storyteller, a competitor, a mentor, a sportsman and, above all, a man whose passion for horses never dimmed.
