Meet Service Star Alma Watanabe, 14. Alma has been a member of her school’s Service Club for three years. TFK reader Isabella Nevsky spoke with Alma about her efforts to serve her community of Westchester, New York. What made you want to join your school’s Service Club? I’ve always enjoyed helping people. What type of work do you do? Through Service Club, I’ve helped organize different events, such as food drives, sock drives, and candy drives.

Girl Scout Cookie season runs from January to April. During that time, some scouts sell dozens of boxes of cookies. Some sell hundreds. Fourteen-year-old Olive sells more. One year, she sold nearly 13,000 boxes. Olive is one of four Girl Scouts featured in Cookie Queens. It’s a new documentary. It hit theaters on August 7. The movie follows Olive, Ara, Nikki, and Shannon Elizabeth through a busy Girl Scout Cookie season. All Business Girl Scout Cookies are tasty. They’re also serious business.

Students from all 50 states met in Boston, Massachusetts, for three days in July. Their mission: to develop and vote on guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence, or AI, in schools. It was part of America’s Youth AI Festival. The results of their work will be shared with more than 10,000 school leaders. Jeff Riley is a director of Day of AI, one of the host groups. This work is “a starting point for what we hope is a discussion all across the country,” he said.

As he takes on more responsibility for his three daughters, Nate learns the importance of teamwork. From silly and heartwarming moments, he also learns more about the struggles of parenting. The film stars Nate Bargatze and Mandy Moore.

The University of Michigan Wolverines won the 2026 NCAA men’s basketball title on April 6, defeating the University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies. It’s Michigan’s first national title since 1989. The win concluded the NCAA Division I tournament—the March Madness tournament— which tipped off March 15. The final score was 69 to 63, after a close game. Michigan got off to a rocky start. The Wolverines missed their first 11 three-point shots, the AP reports.

There are more than 8 billion people on the planet. By 2050, that number is expected to be nearly 10 billion. But other species have a less certain future. According to the Center for Biological Diversity, about 30% of known species could go extinct by 2050. Now there might be a way to protect them, or at least preserve their genes gene the information in a cell that determines a characteristic of a living thing (noun) . Then, even if they do vanish, scientists might one day bring them back.
