War Memorial Field was packed in anticipation of the 2026 Warren Dragons football opener Friday evening. Under new head coach Jodi Baum, fans were unsure what Warren would bring to the table. It is clear that Baum and the Dragons completely shattered any and all expectations as they defeated the Seneca Bobcats 34-21 via explosive offense, smart tackling and crucial play making.

The hanging planter on my porch has seen better days. And by better days, I mean the summer annuals have dried to a brown crisp that likely has the neighbors wondering if the Addams Family has moved in. I like to believe the extreme heat did them in, but I know neglect has also played a role. I dug up some impatiens from the garden and plopped them in the basket to save face, but with September approaching, it’s time to freshen it up for a new season.

Gloria Rieder, 84, of Warren, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at AHN St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA, after a brief illness. She was born in Brookeville, PA, to the late Aloysius and Elizabeth Mineweaser on September 14, 1941. Gloria graduated from Brookeville High School in 1959; She worked in accounts payable at United Refining Company for many years from which she retired. She loved her family and was the biggest supporter of her grandchildren and their sporting events.

The Music Conservatory in Warren will present a free community concert featuring Matt Baird of the band named Spoken on Sunday at 7 p.m. The up-and-coming band Daughters of Thunder will open the concert located at the JAZz Amphitheater, Soldiers and Sailors Park, 353 Pennsylvania Ave W, Warren. Education, voting matter Dear Editor, Question: Did Donald Trump's 2016 comment, "I love the poorly educated" refer to the Fox News misinformed, poorly educated people? Was the information deficient, poorly educated people who are too busy and/or too disinterested or too lazy to follow current events his love interest? Or both? There are plenty of them in Washington D.C., and in both Warren County and in Pennsylvania's rural northern tier, a deep red area.
