It’s been a busy summer. I’ve been winding down and putting to bed two graphic novels I’ve been writing behind the scenes for a few years now in the background, one of which is one of my favorite things I’ve ever, ever made. Winding down a few projects means winding up a few more - a miniseries or two with some of my favorite characters in comics and horror, and even a few returns to previous projects that get to continue on.

Mea culpa for not posting - you may not have seen me here, but you may have seen me lately- My Jeopardy episode aired April 17th! Did I win? Well, I won’t spoil it, but I went up against Good-Hearted Trivia-Monster Jamie Ding, who you may have heard about if you follow Jeopardy at all. But I had an amazing time - the peak of which was finding out Ken Jennings is a for-real Wednesday Warrior comics fan. We all have a bucket list, right?

and the return of Marian Heretic In case you missed the news from Comicspro, we finally got to announce SICKO, a five-issue miniseries from Ignition Press by me and the incredible Amilcar Pinna (pencils/inks), Amanda Grazini (colors), and Arianna Maher on letters. SICKO follows Valentine Virago, a medical student who finds herself laid low by her own immune system attacking her body - a common enough chronic complaint for many.

REAL QUICK BEFORE WE START: Marian Heretic #3 is outNew Year’s Eve, 12/31. There’s a page in this issue that was part of the original pitch, I love it so much. I can’t show you yet, but there are some gorgeous early pages at the link showing us a bit of Marian’s past, and it’s all topped off with this dynamite Joe Jaro cover: But it is the end of December, time for retrospectives, and that’s what I’m here for.

I’ve been wanting to get these up in the shop for a week, but I’ve had my head down writing. Hello again! Following New York Comic Con I had two more short personal trips, and now I’m back. Tour’s over, New York Comic Con came and went, and it was incredible. Probably the busiest convention of my whole life. Since then, I’ve had two major trips - one back to the East Coast and one to the desert, so when I say I’ve been busy, I do mean it.

It’s the Monday before the release of Marian Heretic #1/New York Comic Con 2025 as I sit here typing this, and it feels like Christmas. Or the night before my wedding day. Or three days after you’ve been buried and you’re ready to get the fuck up out the tomb and party. Not only does Wednesday mark the release of Marian Heretic, one of Friday’s panels will mark the announcement of another book I’ve been working on for years, one I am so, so ready to not have to keep quiet anymore.
