The platform has been designed to provide a more visual, accessible and intuitive experience, reflecting changing digital habits and the needs of different types of visitors. Developed by technology company COTESA, the website aims to inspire and inform users while helping them to plan their trips both before and during their stay.
Torrevieja has received the Family Tourism Seal, a certification recognising the city as a destination adapted to the needs of families. The Spanish Federation of Large Families awarded the distinction in recognition of the town’s leisure facilities, natural spaces, beaches and specialised services. Mayor Eduardo Jorge Dolón collected the award on Thursday from Eduardo Hervás, president of the Large Families Federation of the Valencian Community and a member of the national federation’s board.
Spain’s State Meteorological Agency, AEMET, has issued a yellow warning for high temperatures in the Vega del Segura area of the Murcia region. Forecasters say temperatures could reach 39°C on Friday. The warning will remain in place from 13:00 until 21:00. According to information provided to the 1-1-2 emergency coordination centre, the probability of maximum temperatures reaching warning levels is between 40 and 70 per cent.
Seven companies have submitted bids to purchase three municipal plots in Orihuela Costa, in an auction the council hopes will generate at least 21.6 million euros. The land could accommodate 255 homes across more than 30,000 square metres, and the sale will go to the highest bidder through an open procedure. The plots include land at La Ciñuelica, La Cuerda and Peña del Águila, with starting prices ranging from just over 4.1 million euros to 11.3 million euros.
Torrevieja Council has received a €206,000 grant from the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (Ivace), funded by the European Regional Development Fund (Feder), to develop a new 3,700-metre cycle network across the town. The route will run from Avenida Delfina Viudes, starting at Ronda Ricardo Lafuente Aguado, to the junction with Avenida Monge y Bielsa near the Sports City.
Residents and holidaymakers in La Manga were left concerned on Wednesday morning, 8 July, after dozens of dead fish were spotted floating near the shoreline of the Mar Menor. The discovery, close to kilometre 12 near Playa Mistral and the Paquebote restaurant, prompted fears of another environmental incident in the lagoon. Given the Mar Menor’s troubled recent history, images of dead fish quickly raised alarm among locals.
Emergency services have been tackling two wildfires that broke out simultaneously yesterday afternoon near the AP-7 motorway in the municipalities of San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar, in the Region of Murcia. The first alert was received shortly before 5pm, when the 1-1-2 Emergency Coordination Centre began handling more than 100 calls reporting flames along the motorway between kilometres 778 and 779, near the Los Sáez and El Mirador exits.
Torrevieja Council has awarded the €10,370,583 contract to develop the long-awaited Alto de la Casilla urban park, transforming a 37,000 square metre site that has stood semi-abandoned for more than two decades. The project has been awarded to the joint venture Abala Infraestructuras–Orthem Servicios y Actuaciones Ambientales, which achieved the highest technical and economic score in a competitive process involving 13 bidders.
The La Mata and Torrelamata Neighbours’ Association has submitted a formal letter to the Valencian regional government setting out five proposals to improve Line 6 of the suburban bus service. The route connects La Mata with Torrevieja University Hospital and is widely used by hospital staff, patients and residents. One of the main requests is to bring forward the first bus of the day so that workers and patients can arrive at the hospital before 8am.
Firefighters in Valencia have responded to 25 vegetation and forest fires across the province between 9am and 8pm on Tuesday, as a heatwave continues to raise the risk of wildfires. The Provincial Fire Consortium said many of the incidents involved scrubland, farmland and vacant plots with vegetation. Two fires were sparked by lightning strikes during afternoon storms in inland areas, affecting La Yesa and Chera.
