WARREN -- A man initially thought to be the victim in a June 16 shooting at Parkman Road and Northfield Avenue NW was arraigned Tuesday on two counts of felonious assault and one count of discharging a firearm into a habitation. Kasey N. Morgan, 21, of Linda Drive NW, was arraigned on two counts of felonious assault and one count of discharging a firearm into a habitation, all second-degree felonies. The charges were filed June 29, according to Warren Municipal Court records.

CHICAGO -- Bubba Chandler pitched six strong innings, Rafael Flores Jr. homered among his three hits and the Pittsburgh Pirates pounded the Chicago White Sox 9-3 on Tuesday night. Bryan Reynolds had two of Pittsburgh's five doubles off starter Sean Burke. Reynolds drove in two runs and scored twice as the Pirates jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings and rolled to their seventh victory in nine games behind an 18-hit outburst.

SANDUSKY -- Allen Jeffery Timko, 74, residing in Sandusky, passed away Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at the Ohio Veterans Home. Born March 27, 1952, in Warren, Allen was the second of seven children of the late Albert J. Timko Sr. and Pauline Petiya Timko. Allen graduated from Leavittsburg High School in the 1970 class. After graduation, Allen enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served two tours of duty. He returned to Warren and worked as a linesman in cable TV and other jobs.

Labor Day weekend travelers faced the highest gas prices ever for this time of year as the national average rose 6 cents over the past week to $4.15, according to AAA East Central's Gas Price Report on Tuesday. Continued volatility in the Strait of Hormuz has pushed crude oil prices over $90 per barrel. After a record-setting August, this past Labor Day weekend set a record at the pump. The national average has never been above $4 per gallon on Labor Day.

The Tribune Chronicle is seeking nominations for its annual Trumbull County Firefighter of the Year competition. Nominees will be evaluated on dedication, productivity, loyalty and professionalism. They must serve with a fire department in Trumbull County, be at least 18 and hold any rank below chief. Fire department personnel can nominate a fellow firefighter, but nominations also can be submitted by the public.

WARREN - Among the legislation that will be introduced at the Warren City Council meeting tonight will be a proposed one year moratorium on data centers in Warren. Tonight's 5 p.m. meeting is the first one since Warren City Council went on its August break. The legislation, which is sponsored by council members Greg Greathouse and Greg Thumm, would place a moratorium on data center projects larger than 1,000 square feet.

NEW YORK -- Aryna Sabalenka thought it was all slipping away. Her U.S. Open title reign and her lengthy hold on the No. 1 ranking in women's tennis were just about gone. Then Sabalenka proved she's not giving any of it up without a fight. WARREN -- John Milton Davis, 85, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, at Washington Square Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 3, 1941, in Luverne, Alabama, a son of O.C. Davis and Lalie B. Canty-Davis. He was an Army veteran, retired from employment as a foreman and worked in security at Delphi Packard Corp. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include six daughters, Callie T. Evans of Columbus, Natasha Price of Warren, Yolanda T.

HUBBARD -- The upcoming year looks to be one centered on upgrades, with one being focused on saving the city money on income tax collection, according to Mayor Ben Kyle on Tuesday. Kyle said during caucus ahead of the city council's regular meeting that the city will have "a lot of" internal protocols and upgrades that his office wishes to see happen throughout the rest of the year and 2027.

WARREN -- The Tribune Chronicle is seeking nominations for its 14th annual Twenty Under 20 program. The newspaper will recognize 20 high-achieving individuals younger than 20 for their leadership skills through volunteerism, extracurricular activities and academic achievements. Nominees need to be a resident of Trumbull County, at least a freshman in high school and no older than 19 as of Dec. 1.
