Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association Special Ranger Robert Fields, District 25 in Southeast Texas, reports a light red or dun yearling heifer missing from a property approximately 5 miles south of Ezzell on County Road 450 in Lavaca County. The heifer is branded on the right loin with a backward “C” connected to a “K” and a “5” on the right flank. Both ears are cropped at the tips, and the left ear has two slits.

Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association Special Ranger Kevin Marmor, District 28 in South Texas, reports approximately 116 cows and 80 calves missing from a ranch following flooding. The cows are 6 to 8 years old, crossbred and various colors, and are branded with a music note on the left front shoulder. The calves are crossbred, weigh more than 400 pounds and are black, black baldy or red. The calves have no brands, marks or ear tags. The cattle were last seen July 19.

Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association Special Ranger Joe Aguilar Jr., District 29 in South Texas, reports three bred red Beefmaster-cross cows and one red Beefmaster-cross calf missing from a property off FM 186 near Brushline Road in Hidalgo County. The cattle are branded with “LV” on the left hip and may also have yellow numbered ear tags. The cattle were last seen July 15.

FORT WORTH, Texas (September 1, 2026) – Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association is seeking speakers for the 2027 School for Successful Ranching, a premier educational event for cattle raisers, wildlife managers, landowners and others invested in the beef industry. Held annually as part of the Cattle Raisers Convention & Expo, the School for Successful Ranching is scheduled for April 8-10, 2027, in Fort Worth.

The competitive, paid internships run from mid-January through early May and offer students an opportunity to build professional skills, expand their industry networks and work alongside association staff, agricultural leaders and participating member businesses and ranches.

Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association Special Ranger Cliff Swofford, District 8 in North Texas, reports 19 head of cattle missing from a property off FM 1191, approximately 6 miles north of Bryson. The cattle include nine cows, nine yearlings and one bull. All are Corriente crossbred cattle and are black or black and white in color. The cattle are not branded. The cattle were displaced Aug. 25 during the Ross Wildfire in Jack County.

Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association Special Ranger Joe Aguilar Jr., District 29 in South Texas, reports a black Simmental bull missing from a ranch near San Jose Ranch Road and Paredes Road in Cameron County. The bull has a double “T” Texas Tech logo freeze brand on the front left shoulder. The bull was last seen July 22. Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association Special Ranger Brent Mast, District 22 in East Texas, reports a compact track loader missing from a property near Peter’s School Road in Washington County. The loader is a Caterpillar model number 259, and the last four digits of the VIN number are 7651. The equipment was last seen Aug. 14. FORT WORTH, Texas (August 25, 2026) — Payton Dean Carroll, 25, was arrested Aug. 21 in Chambers County on two theft of livestock warrants stemming from investigations involving nearly $200,000 in unpaid cattle purchases. Carroll was wanted on warrants out of Austin and Navarro counties, both third-degree felonies. Authorities allege Carroll failed to pay two separate livestock auctions a combined $192,448.49 for cattle purchases.
