HONDA’S ALL-NEW PRELUDE In a previous life I was selling Hondas for Jim McNatt in both Lewisville, Texas and – on the southern side of Big D – DeSoto. This was in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, when Honda was offering its 3rd-generation Prelude to American audiences. And while the 2-door Prelude generated interest, its sales were anecdotal when compared to those Accords and Civics moving off the lot. Almost 40 years later the Prelude is back, albeit with a low planning volume.
Cars. Coffee. And a Boss 429 Treat
All photos by the author, Adam Moore It’s been a while since I went to Cars and Coffee. Last time I showed up, it was still in the parking lot at Classic BMW in Plano. TXGarage covered those mornings more than a decade ago. I have been doing this long enough that I should have known the scene was still alive in DFW. I guess I assumed it had quietly faded, but it definitely hasn’t. First Saturday of the month, Garages of America in Carrollton opens the campus as Garages & Gearheads. 2323 Tarpley Road.
2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid – FULL DISCLOSURE: IT COMES WITH COMPOSURE
2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid LANGLEY, Ark. — It is tempting, easy, and ultimately wrong to dismiss the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid as boring. America’s best-selling sedan, the Camry is rock-solid, fuel-efficient, quiet, strong, and — in the case of the all-wheel-drive hybrid version — genuinely entertaining to drive. On a road trip to a Friday night football game, the Camry did exactly what I expected of a modern car, with zero surprises. Everything sat where I expected it. The seating felt comfortable.
TEXAS LEGEND – A SECOND LOOK
TEXAS LEGEND - JIM HALL AND HIS CHAPARRALS courtesy of EVRO PUBLISHING In 2026 we’re seemingly overloaded with a vast selection of supercars, more than a few of which emanate from a Chevy showroom; Chevy’s Corvette has more trim levels than NYC has ticker tape! With that, it’s worth remembering that Jim Hall cemented GM’s place in motorsports in the ’60s, and sixty years ago this summer won the Nurburgring’s 1000 Kilometers endurance contest with Phil Hill and Jo Bonnier behind the wheel.
Lone Star Le Mans is back at COTA this weekend
The Le Mans circus parks in Austin for one weekend a year. This is that weekend. Lone Star Le Mans is the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Texas round, Friday, Sep 4 through Sunday, Sep 6, at Circuit of the Americas. Practice Friday. Qualifying Saturday.
Toyota’s RAV4 GR Sport Plug-In – AMARILLO BY MORNING
Lead photo by David Boldt Toyota’s RAV4 GR Sport Plug-In With thanks to George Strait, aboard Toyota’s RAV4 Plug-in (and its 600 miles of total range) you could leave San Antone and make Amarillo by morning, while still having enough gas to find the local Honkytonk. And with 0-60 coming in just over five seconds with a top speed of 125, you probably make Amarillo by supper… Toyota’s RAV4, at this point in its production life, is irrevocably ubiquitous.
2025 Range Rover SE LWB: Prestige That Falls Short on Texas Roads
The brand delivers status, but not the day-to-day practicality affluent buyers expect for the price The 2025 Range Rover still turns heads the moment it rolls up in places like Highland Park or Rockwall. That classic silhouette and quiet presence remain unmistakable. But after a week living with the SE LWB 7-Seat version on real Texas roads, the question that keeps coming up is whether the prestige justifies the price when you need a vehicle that actually works for a family.
THE DEADLIEST DECADE
THE DEADLIEST DECADE Preston Lerner and I are heading toward our 40th anniversary, having met in the late ‘80s. At that time Preston was freelancing for the Dallas Morning News, while I would have been freelancing for Northstar Lincoln-Mercury-Lotus (I was the ‘Lotus’) in Plano. Before joining the Morning News, Preston had worked as a reporter in Abilene, while I – before hooking up with Northstar Lotus – had managed the Classic Ferrari showroom in Richardson.
2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: The Long One That Actually Works
The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Summit Obsidian does not try to reinvent the full-size three-row. It simply asks whether a big, capable family hauler can still feel useful in Texas without forcing you into Escalade or Navigator money. After 418 miles of DFW heat, mixed highway traffic, and real family loading, the answer is clearer than the window sticker suggests.
McLaren’s Artura Spider – ORANGE. JUICED.
McLaren’s Artura Spider “The McLaren McL 6GT daringly imagines what our inspirational founder had wished to complete but with six additional decades of innovation and passion woven through every element, creating a modern icon of driver connection.” Nick Collins, CEO – McLaren Automotive This past week, McLaren Automotive unveiled what might be regarded as a continuation of the stillborn MGGT McLaren, a concept guaranteed to excite this middle school kid – or any middle school kid – as we...
