It’s hard to overstate the role that 4-H has played in Tanya’s life. Growing up, the York County 4-H program was a place where she learned crucial lessons, made lifelong friends and where early mornings and long days gave way to achievements that she still feels proud of to this day. It was also a tradition that connected three generations of her family. “I always say that my whole story starts with 4-H,” Tanya says.

Two professors in the Department of Biochemistry will receive major Nebraska honors this fall for outstanding work in scientific research and mentoring. By the final bell, Shelby will have taught everyone from sixth graders discovering geometry to high schoolers solving advanced mathematics.

For Korben, Coming Back to Campus Feels Like Coming Home It’s not just the familiar sights he sees as campus comes back to life for the fall semester — students throwing frisbees, lounging in hammocks or reading on the steps of the Nebraska Union — but the feeling Korben gets from all of it: belonging. “It’s just so happy here. Nebraska always feels welcoming,” he says. “It’s not just a beautiful campus — it’s a genuinely warm and inviting one.
