You’ll learn practical strategies to refine your writing process, connect with colleagues across campus through networking activities and guided peer review, and receive dedicated writing time.

Save the date for the 6th annual UNLV Libraries Research Impact Challenge, happening September 21-25. Over five days, UNLV faculty, staff, and graduate students can explore practical ways to increase the visibility and impact of their research. Daily challenges will introduce citation metrics, altmetrics, and othertools and resources available through the Libraries. Notable: John Haberstroh John Haberstroh (History) was interviewed for the weekly teaching newsletter of The Chronicle of Higher Education on alternative grading practices in humanities courses. Using specifications grading, Haberstroh communicates high expectations and increases transparency for students.

Presentation: Shane Kraus Shane Kraus (Psychology) recently appeared on The Gambling Files podcast episode, “Addiction 39: The Psychology of Gambling and Sex Addiction with Dr Shane Kraus.” Kraus discussed behavioral addictions, including gambling and compulsive sexual behavior, with a particular focus on psychological mechanisms, risk factors, military populations, screening and intervention strategies, and the role of technology in addiction.

The Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs is pleased to announce that the UNLV Writing Center will move from the College of Liberal Arts to Student Success within Academic Affairs. Erin Zimmerman will continue as director of the Writing Center, and the center’s positions and assigned space will remain unchanged.

The University Police Department has just six seats remaining for its upcoming Community Police Academy, taking place September 8 through October 27, 2026. Classes will be held every Tuesday at University Police Headquarters, 1280 Dorothy Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89119, with select sessions taking place at additional locations listed in the course syllabus.
