Annual award renamed to honor college’s founding dean UNMC’s College of Allied Health Professions has renamed its Outstanding Service to the Allied Health Professions Award in honor of Kyle Meyer, PhD, who is stepping down as dean of the college later this year. The award now is named the Kyle P. Meyer Outstanding Service to the Allied Health Professions Award.
Great Plains Leadership Institute marks its 20th year
The Great Plains Leadership Institute at the UNMC College of Public Health has announced its Year 20 cohort, marking two decades of leadership development across the region. Since its founding, the Great Plains Leadership Institute has built a network of more than 400 alumni working across public health, health care and community organizations throughout the Great Plains.
Harman Lecture to feature National Institute on Aging director
Richard Hodes, MD, director of the National Institute on Aging at the National Institutes of Health, will deliver the annual Denham Harman, MD, PhD, Lectureship in Biomedical Gerontology, as the UNMC Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology and Palliative Medicine’s annual lecture reaches its milestone 25th year of celebrating biomedical research.
Register by Friday for UNMC’s Administrative Professionals Day
UNMC Human Resources will recognize and celebrate the contributions of UNMC’s administrative professionals at the annual Administrative Professionals Day event. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Truhlsen Campus Events Center, with a virtual option available. Doors open at 11:15 a.m. Administrative professionals play a vital role in supporting the success of UNMC’s teams and the organization.
‘Gut Check’ gastroenterology seminar set for April 28
The UNMC Center for Continuing Education is sponsoring the upcoming seminar “Gut Check 2026: Practical Gastroenterology Updates for Frontline Clinicians.” The continuing education event will update on screening, diagnosis and management of common gastrointestinal conditions encountered in primary care. It highlights red flag symptoms requiring urgent referral and reviews current guidelines for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, hepatitis and colorectal cancer screening.

Dr. Davies to present annual faculty address today
UNMC Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, will present his annual address to the faculty at the UNMC Faculty Senate’s annual faculty meeting scheduled for today (April 15). The title of Dr. Davies’ presentation is “Moving Boldly Forward, Together.” Dr. Davies will highlight UNMC’s momentum in education, research, clinical care, statewide impact and strategic priorities for the future. The annual faculty meeting will be held at 3 p.m. in the Durham Research Center auditorium.
UNMC College of Public Health to host World Health Day
The UNMC College of Public Health will mark World Health Day on Monday, April 20, offering an opportunity for the UNMC community to join the conversation on global health. The World Health Day events are hosted by the UNMC College of Public Health’s Center for Global Health and Development, in partnership with the UNMC Global Center for Health Security and The ONE Campaign, a global organization advocating for economic and health opportunities in Africa.
