Unwinnable is a website and digital magazine, founded in 2010 to provide a different kind of cultural criticism. We love to read about different perspectives, so we set out to collect a diverse group of contributors, amateur and veteran alike, to tell their stories. From the silly to the serious, we pride ourselves on providing a friendly, thoughtful venue for writing that is free of the constraints of traditional internet publishing. Subversive Sequels: Bad Dads and Broken Worlds
You feel compelled to support great writing… In 2013, an episode of Legend of Korra’s second season revealed that Aang, the beloved protagonist of the wildly successful Avatar: the Last Airbender… was a bad dad. Or at least, if you were online at the time that Korra discourse was big, you would think this was what happened. What actually took place was, in the episode Civil Wars: Part I, Aang’s three kids argued about their father. It was a pretty normal adult sibling argument.
