Do not respond, send money, or provide personal or financial information. These messages may offer MacBook Pros, guitars, gaming consoles, vehicles, or other expensive items at little or no cost. The scammers then request a down payment, shipping fee, or other payment.

KINGSTON, R.I. – Aug. 12, 2026 – Close to 40 construction projects across the University of Rhode Island campuses, including the new outdoor track and field complex situated along West Alumni Avenue and renovations to URI’s Fine Arts Center, will be completed in time for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year, according to the University’s Facilities Group, which oversees campus construction and renovation efforts.

WHAT: Rhode Island’s economic performance for June offers a glimmer of hope that the state’s recession may have ended, according to University of Rhode Island economist Leonard Lardaro. June’s Current Conditions Index value, of 58, not only improved from June’s 50 but it’s also the highest CCI recorded this year. It was also the third time in the last four months that a monthly CCI showed at least 50, which is a neutral value, or better—above 50 is expansion and below is contraction.

KINGSTON, R.I. – Aug. 3, 2026 – A partnership between the University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island Department of Health will study manganese levels in Rhode Island’s drinking water. The project, “Statewide Support for Manganese Management in Rhode Island,” will be funded by a grant from the Emerging Contaminants in Small and Disadvantaged Communities through the health department’s Center for Drinking Water Quality and Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank. It runs through Sept. 30, 2030.

As part of a two-year cut flower variety trial, URI researchers are evaluating snapdragons and dahlias to help strengthen the cut flower industry across Southern New England. The farm welcomed visitors to see snapdragons in July for the trial’s first season; dahlias will take center stage this August.
