New Sports Teams Part of Exciting Resurgence at USSA – United States Sports Academy
The United States Sports Academy launched their first ever intercollegiate athletic team in the fall of 2023 with men’s soccer. This upcoming academic year, USSA will be home to five new intercollegiate sports teams, adding more opportunities for students to pursue their athletic passions. Among the new sports additions are baseball, softball, women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s track and field.

Head Athletic Trainer – United States Sports Academy
The Head Athletic Trainer for the United States Sports Academy is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive sports medicine program for student-athletes within the university’s athletic department. This role involves providing leadership, clinical expertise, and administrative oversight to a team of athletic trainers while collaborating closely with coaches, team physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes.
USSA Awards Inaugural Thorpe and Summitt Scholarships to Athletes from Foley and Citronelle – United States Sports Academy
Foley High School’s Aliyah Williams and Citronelle High School’s Brayden Helton are the first recipients of the United States Sports Academy’s inaugural Pat Summitt and Jim Thorpe Scholar Athlete Scholarships. Williams and Helton are the first students to receive the scholarships, which provide full tuition coverage to attend USSA for four years as they pursue their bachelor’s degrees.
Baker’s Helen Hendrix Named Scholar Athlete of the Year at USSA Event – United States Sports Academy
Baker High School’s Helen Hendrix was crowned the Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2023-24 school year at a banquet on the campus of the United States Sports Academy (USSA) in Daphne on April 22, 2024. Hendrix is a senior at Baker, she is captain of both the cross country and track and field teams. She has a 4.79 GPA, scored a 32 on the ACT and is ranked among the top 10 students in her graduating class.
