(July 27, 2026) — USTelecom – The Broadband Association today underscored the critical role of the Industry Traceback Group (ITG) in supporting the federal investigation that led to the recent conviction of Barry Glenn Augustinsky, 55, of Poquoson, Virginia, on charges of mail fraud, conspiracy to commit mail fraud, money laundering, unlawful monetary transactions, and obtaining information under false pretenses.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – USTelecom – The Broadband Association President and CEO Jonathan Spalter today praised Senate Commerce Committee passage of the bipartisan Accelerating Broadband Permits Act, legislation designed to improve transparency and accountability in the federal permitting process so broadband providers can focus on building infrastructure instead of navigating unnecessary red tape. (Washington, D.C.) – Today USTelecom President and CEO Jonathan Spalter joined leaders from AT&T, Lumen, Uniti, T-Mobile, and Verizon to discuss the communications industry’s commitment to protecting consumers from phone scams at a working group meeting convened by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The meeting at the Department of Treasury also featured FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, and Federal Reserve Vice Chair Michelle Bowman.
