Rogie Royce Z. Carandang is leading efforts to mitigate maternal health challenges, championing Obstetric Life Support, designed to adapt specialized emergency training for healthcare workers in resource-limited environments.

The Kate Marmion School of Public Health is pleased to announce the appointment ofGretchen A. Clum, PhD, MA, MS, as Chair of the Department of Health, Behavior, and Society, effective July 1. Clum joins us from Tulane University's Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, where she serves as Associate Dean for Academic Programs, Program Director for the online Doctor of Public Health in Leadership in Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Associate Professor.

In a major milestone for global health and cardiological research, Elsevier has officially announced the publication of the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Cardiovascular Research and Medicine. This highly anticipated reference work is spearheaded by Editor-in-Chief Vasan Ramachandran, MD, FACC, FAHA, dean of the Kate Marmion School of Public Health at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The University of Texas at San Antonio (UT San Antonio) has been awarded a $43.99 million, five-year contract from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), part of the National Institutes of Health.

Launching in the 2026–27 academic year, the UT San Antonio Health Science Center Bold Promise Program ensures that eligible students have their tuition and mandatory fees fully covered. Qualifying students will receive support for up to four academic semesters while completing the final two years of their undergraduate degree, provided they maintain academic eligibility.
