UT San Antonio has established the Institutional Faculty Advisory Body (IFAB), a representative faculty advisory group that brings together faculty voices from the unified university’s academic colleges and health professional schools. “Our faculty are at the heart of our academic mission, and their expertise and perspectives are essential as we continue building one UT San Antonio,” said Provost and Senior Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Heather Shipley.
Five students selected to engage in global research and teaching opportunities
For five UT San Antonio students, significant investment in their research and career ambitions will open doors to new opportunities across the world. As finalists of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, the students will receive support to conduct research and work in countries across the globe during the 2026–2027 academic year. This matches an all-time high for the number of UT San Antonio students selected for the program in a single year.

Three Roadrunners selected in 2026 MLB Draft
Over the weekend, three Roadrunners made history as Major League Baseball took center stage. Connor Kelley, Robert Orloski and Lane Haworth were all selected in the 2026 MLB Draft, securing UTSA’s second consecutive season with multiple selections. The trio became the 45th, 46th and 47th members of the program to be taken in the MLB Draft, doubling the total under head coach Pat Hallmark from three to six. UTSA upped its total from two draft selections in 2025 to three in 2026.

Amelie G. Ramirez Amelie G. Ramirez, DrPH, MPH, a cancer researcher at UT Health San Antonio, the academic health center of The University of Texas at San Antonio, is receiving a two-year, $400,000 leadership grant from Susan G. Komen to study cancer survivorship. The research will study how therapeutic can impact health-related quality of life, fatigue and physical function.
