A Minneapolis Unitarian Universalist congregation says it is even more committed to showing up for its neighbors and opposing government intimidation after learning that agents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security secretly spied on a gathering there.

Nearly 400 Unitarian Universalist congregations and communities across the United States have participated in the Climate Justice Revival: Reimagine Together from an Extractive Age to a New Era since it was launched in fall 2024 to realize climate justice efforts and work toward collective liberation.

Once a month on a Monday morning, twelve or so men—members of the Newton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship—gather in a circle for worship in a classroom-style space that serves as the chapel at the Newton Correctional Facility in Iowa.
