Venturelab set sail in 2004. It began as the National Entrepreneurial Training initiative, which was mandated by the Swiss Innovation Agency to IFJ, the Institute for Young Entrepreneurs based in St. Gallen. Today, Venturelab Ltd is a fully private company supporting world-class startups, Swiss made.
Since its inception, Venturelab has been improving and expanding the support offered to Switzerland's top entrepreneurs, continuously developing and deploying new tools and programs, including Venture Leaders in 2006, Venture Kick in 2007, the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award in 2011, the Swisscom Startup Challenge in 2013, and the Innosuisse Start-up Training in 2018. To date, Venturelab has backed more than 1,000 startups in their global growth, supporting over 100,000 people in the startup ecosystem across various programs and events. Source

Search ArticlesAI for Founders: Great Pitches Are Tested, Not Written
Most founders spend weeks preparing a pitch deck. They refine headlines, shorten paragraphs, improve visuals and search for the perfect wording. AI has made all of that easier. In a matter of minutes, it can rewrite slides, sharpen messages and suggest stronger narratives. But investors rarely remember the slides. They remember the conversation. At the Venturelab Trainings for Innosuisse, we're seeing founders use AI in a much more interesting way.

AI for Founders: Better Financial Models Come from Better Thinking
Every founder knows the feeling. You're updating your financial model before an investor meeting, revising assumptions after a customer call, or trying to understand what one new hire means for your runway. AI can now do much of that work in minutes. The temptation is obvious. Why build a model yourself when AI can generate one for you? At Venturelab Trainings for Innosuisse, we see more and more founders integrating AI into financial planning.
Venturelab Summer Series: Creating Global Company Culture
International growth is often discussed in terms of markets, customers, and investors. Yet when a startup scales beyond its home country, another question becomes just as important: how do you build one company across cultures, time zones, languages, and expectations? For many Venture Leaders alumni, global company culture was not added later. It had to be built early, deliberately, and often under pressure.
AI for Founders: Why Great Marketing Starts Before the Prompt
Artificial intelligence has quickly become part of every startup's marketing toolkit. Founders use it to draft websites, write LinkedIn posts, build campaigns and generate ideas in seconds. Yet at at the Venturelab Trainings for Innosuisse, we keep seeing the same pattern: founders turn to AI before they've figured out what they actually want to say. The result is content that sounds polished but feels interchangeable. Innosuisse trainer Anil Sethi has observed the same development.

AI for Founders: The Best Strategy Starts with Better Questions
Strategy has never suffered from a lack of ideas. Most founders already have more opportunities than they can realistically pursue. The real challenge is deciding which ones are worth pursuing because they will move the business forward. That's where AI is changing the game. At Venturelab, we see founders using AI long before they write a business plan or prepare a pitch. They brainstorm markets, compare pricing models, explore partnerships and challenge early assumptions.
Venturelab Summer Series: Made in Switzerland, Made for the World
For many entrepreneurs, international expansion is something that happens later. First comes product development, then customer acquisition, and eventually, once the business has gained traction, new markets come into focus. Yet many of Switzerland's most successful founders tell a different story. For them, internationalisation wasn't the next step. It was part of the company's DNA from day one. Switzerland Is Rarely the Main Market Switzerland offers exceptional conditions for innovation.

Swiss Startup Funding Hits CHF 1.25 Billion in H1 2026
CHF 1.25 billion in venture capital went to Swiss startups in the first half of 2026 – 15.5% less than in the same period of the previous year. This investment volume is thus on a par with the levels of 2023 and 2024. The number of investments remained stable at 123. However, there were significant shifts across sectors and cantons: the hardware sector and canton Vaud performed well, while the biotech sector and canton Zurich experienced a downward trend.
