The steel cutting ceremony of chemical tanker Lucia Cosulich took place on 9th July 2025 at Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipyard, China, with Silvia Bordoni, General Manager of Fratelli Cosulich Bunkers (S) Pte Ltd, in attendance. Lucia Cosulich, a 7,999 DWT IMO Type 2 chemical bunker tanker, is the second in a series of four. She will be fully methanol-ready capable of carrying, burning, and bunkering methanol safely and efficiently, with full regulatory compliance standards.

Dutch maritime solar innovator Wattlab has delivered a solar energy system for HGK Shipping’s inland shipping cargo vessel Blue Marlin. Representing a major technical milestone and step forward for sustainable inland shipping, the vessel’s 192 solar panels will provide power to both the onboard and propulsion systems, making the Blue Marlin the first inland shipping vessel in the world capable of hybrid sailing with solar power.

The newbuilding, which was christened ‘Windea Curie’ on 26 June, is now being deployed for the charterer TenneT, a leading offshore transmission system operator in the European Union, to support its offshore grid connection facilities in the North Sea.
Subsea7 awarded contract offshore Egypt
On Friday 4 July 2025, Subsea7 announced the award of sizeable (*1) contract offshore Egypt. Subsea7 will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, commissioning and installation of flexible pipelines, umbilicals, and associated subsea components for a tie back to existing infrastructures. Project management and engineering work will begin immediately at Subsea7’s offices in France, Portugal, and Egypt. Offshore activity is expected to start in 2026.

Two Alpha Gas carriers to get enhanced operational support with Wärtsilä Lifecycle Agreement
Technology group Wärtsilä has signed a five-year Lifecycle Agreement with Greek, Athens-based LNG management company, Alpha Gas. The agreement covers two LNG carriers which each have four Wärtsilä 34DF engines and is aimed at giving Alpha Gas increased operational insight, availability, and better maintenance cost predictability. The order with Wärtsilä was booked in Q2 2025.
