The festival will feature short films in 40 themed programs, from 46 countries, and include 36 World Premieres, 32 U.S. Premieres, and 117 Midwest Premieres.

Virginie Efira (Rudy Marmet) Actress Virginie Efira will be honored at the 79th Locarno Film Festival with the Leopard Club Award, and present Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s All of a Sudden, the film for which she won the Palme for Best Actress in Cannes. HBO has debuted the trailer for The Man Will Burn, a four-part documentary series that goes behind the scenes of Burning Man, the 40-year-old cultural event and temporary city built in the Nevada desert.

The Match (El Partido) by Juan Cabral and Santiago Franco The 60th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will open with The Match, an Argentinian-Spanish documentary directed by Juan Cabral and Santiago Franco, which chronicles the 1986 Football World Cup match between Argentina and England. The festival will close with The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, a crime drama directed by Noah Segan, starring John Turturro as an old-school pickpocket.

Dustin Hoffman, Juliette Binoche, Jeffrey Wright and Robert Richardson Actors Dustin Hoffman and Juliette Binoche, along with cinematographer Robert Richardson, will be honored at the 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival with a Crystal Globe award. The festival will present the President’s Award to actor Jeffrey Wright.

Set in the heart of Lebanon, Cyril Aris’ debut feature film, A Sad and Beautiful World, tells a story of love and friendship across three decades amid war and tragedy. Mounia Akl (“Costa Brava, Lebanon”) and Hasan Askil (“Memory Box”, “The Insult”) star in the film, which premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival, where it won the Giornate Degli Autori Audience Award.

A24 revealed the official trailer for The Debut, a new musical comedy starring Julianne Moore as a shy and reserved housewife whose life takes an unexpected turn after she lands a minor role in a local theater production under the watchful eye of a demanding director played by Paul Giamatti. Also starring in the movie are Halle Bailey, Cara Buono, Craig Bierko, Eldar Isgandarov, and Bernadette Peters.

If I Go Will They Miss Me by Walter Thompson-Hernandez Bentonville Film Festival announced the award winners for the 12th annual festival, with If I Go Will They Miss Me, directed by Walter Thompson-Hernández, winning the Best Narrative Award, and Jane Elliott Against the World directed by Judd Ehrlich, taking home the Best Documentary Award.

Filmmaker Josh Fox tells the story of climate migrants across six continents in The Welcome Table, a documentary centered on the voices and experiences of survivors on the front lines of the climate crisis. Featured in the documentary are climate refugees, aid workers, community leaders, and activists, including Leo Farah, Chris Achilo, Nelton Yankur, Allie Stratta, Chris Obehi, and Pauleteh Araújo.
