God’s grace is deemed powerful when the gift of eternal life is understood biblically. There is a phrase that Christians have repeated so often, with such confidence, that many people who are disciples of Jesus assume it must be based on the Bible. ‘Everybody lives forever somewhere.’ I heard it growing up. You probably did too. It’s a phrase that preaches well, emboldens evangelism, fits neatly on a church sign, and has undoubtedly shaped the minds of many Christians. There is only one problem.

The word ‘gossip’ has a surprisingly religious origin. It comes from the Old English godsibb– Godplus sibb, meaning a relative or kinsman (we get our English word ‘sibling’ from the Latin sibb). Godsibboriginally referred to a godparent or baptismal sponsor, someone spiritually connected to the family. Over the centuries, the word's meaning changed.

The Bible never gives us the answer to this question, but if you ask me what I believe: I think we may all be about 33 years old in appearance during the resurrection.
