Roger Severino, Jay Richards, Emma Waters, Delano Squires, Rachel Sheffield, and Robert Rector, the authors of the special report, are all directly affiliated with The Heritage Foundation. “Saving America by Saving the Family” is over an hour-long read, spanning 168 pages. The report was released by the DeVos Center for Human Flourishing. Upon researching this title, I was not able to determine what this Center stood for or provided. All I found was that it is a subsect of The Heritage Foundation.

In addition to Heshmat, representatives from the University Graduate Labor Union (GLU-UE 1105) and Students for a Democratic Society spoke. They all demanded the same things: ICE must leave our city and the University of Minnesota must protect its students, professors, and employees. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been occupying Minneapolis since the beginning of “Operation Metro Surge” on Dec. 1 2025, prompting fear to creep into every corner of our lives.

The website states its intention is “to expose and document college professors who discriminate against conservative students and advance leftist propaganda in the classroom.” Eight University of Minnesota professors are on the list. Fajardo said TPUSA targeted him specifically because his studies in Asian American and Filipinx masculinity are inclusive of transgender people.

What got me in the doors of the archives was the special attention it pays to student activism, considering how present protesting was throughout every decade of the University of Minnesota, and every University in the nation. Student Life Archivist Katelynn Morken is a student activism spearhead.

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina ripped through Black communities in New Orleans, Louisiana. It displaced more than a million people in the Gulf Coast area, predominantly affecting New Orleans. The phrase “Katrina refugees” topped headlines spanning from the AP to MPR in the following weeks. This framing resulted in pushback from many, including the late human rights scholar Hope Lewis.

Please, take up all my time I have always struggled with accepting help from others. Obviously, these insecurities and barriers are major problems for the other 1-million-plus transgender people in America, especially since a large chunk of that population depends on federal, state, or city-specific insurance—insurance that can be cut off by one executive order due to depending on federal funding.

Wade’s legal implications into law years ago—it’s worth wondering why they never did.
