100 YEARS OF JAZZ AT CARNEGIE HALL: MILES DAVIS 1961
Miles Davis first appeared at Carnegie Hall in a 1949 concert of the Stars of Modern Jazz. The performance recorded on May 19th, 1961, features Davis with his regular quintet and accompanied by a 21-piece orchestra, conducted by Gil Evans. The orchestra and quintet together perform selections from Miles Ahead and Sketches of Spain.

100 YEARS OF JAZZ AT CARNEGIE HALL: ALICE COLTRANE - 1971
Recorded in 1971 at a benefit for the Integral Yoga Institute and now released in full for the first time, The Carnegie Hall Concert includes four compositions, she played harp for the first two numbers, both written by herself, and piano for the last two, both written by John Coltrane. Coltrane made her Carnegie Hall debut on April 14, 1968, in a program titled “Cosmic Music,” which featured her original music in addition to works by John Coltrane and Jimmy Garrison.

Billie Holiday made her third appearance at Carnegie Hall on November 10 , 1956. The presentation was a concert version of Billie Holiday's autobiography, Lady Sings the Blues and featured a narrator and an all-star cast of musicians. Ms. Holiday first appeared in The Hall, briefly in April 1944. She was 29 years old, and one of many musicians gathered in a tribute to Fats Waller, who died a few months before.
