WCOV-TV is the Fox-affiliated television station for Central Alabama licensed to Montgomery. It broadcasts a high definition digital signal on UHF channel 20 from a transmitter southeast of Grady along the Montgomery and Crenshaw County line. Owned by David Woods and his Woods Communications Corporation, the station has studios on WCOV Avenue in the Normandale section of Montgomery. WCOV is carried on cable systems all over central and south Alabama including Charter Cable, WOW Cable, Brighthouse Cable, DirecTV, Dish, AT&T U-Verse and many others. In addition to the FOX network programs like American Idol, Empire, NASCAR and The NFL, WCOV carries syndicated programming which includes The Ellen Show, The Big Bang Theory, The People's Court, Judge Mathis and The Andy Griffith Show. Former inmate arrested after alleged attempt to bring marijuana, cellphones onto Ventress prison grounds
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Correctional officers at Ventress Correctional Facility arrested a man early Monday after officials said he was found inside the prison perimeter and packages of suspected contraband were recovered on the grounds. The Alabama Department of Corrections said an officer spotted an unauthorized man around 12:19 a.m. June 1, 2026, in the facility’s perimeter area. Shift leaders were notified and ADOC K-9 officers helped secure the perimeter and locate the man, officials said.

Katie Britt, R-Ala., James Lankford, R-Okla., and Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., reintroduced legislation they say would prevent federal government shutdowns by automatically extending funding and requiring Congress to remain in Washington until spending bills are completed. The proposal, the Prevent Government Shutdowns Act of 2026, would trigger an automatic continuing resolution if lawmakers fail to finish annual appropriations on time.

ADOC: Two arrested after trespassing incident, contraband recovered near Ventress Correctional Facility
CLAYTON, Ala. — The Alabama Department of Corrections said two people were arrested after a trespassing incident was reported on state property near Ventress Correctional Facility on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. According to ADOC, agency K-9 officers were notified and officers conducted an investigative stop on a suspicious vehicle. ADOC said the driver was identified as Sabrina Nicole Johnson and was detained.

U.S. Marshals searching for Lowndes County man wanted for attempted murder
LOWNDES COUNTY, Ala. — The U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Task Force is asking for the public’s help locating Damion Lawrence, 28, who is wanted on an attempted murder charge, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. Lawrence is described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 140 pounds. Authorities said he was born June 12, 1997.
