BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Bridgeport police are investigating after a person suffered a gunshot wound in the leg Wednesday night. Authorities responded to the 160 block of Birdseye Street to a ShotSpotter Activation around 11:40 p.m. One person sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to an area hospital for treatment, according to police. Additional information on their condition was not immediately available. No arrests have been made, police said. This is a developing story.

STORRS, Conn. (WTNH) — Thursday is move-in day for first-year students at the University of Connecticut’s Storrs campus. Students will be moving throughout the rest of the week and over the weekend as they prepare to head back to the classroom on Monday. As UConn welcomes the class of 2030, it’s a big day for freshmen students who will be saying goodbye to mom and dad and entering a new chapter in their lives. Roughly 13,500 students altogether are living on campus this year, according to UConn.

MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Thursday is the beginning of the new academic year in Milford. Returning students will see armed security guards at many schools.
