Visas reinstated for international students
All 26 international students at Webster University who recently had their visas revoked and SEVIS records terminated have had their records fully restored, Chancellor Tim Keane announced today. Earlier this month, 24 Webster students lost their visas, as well as had their records purged from the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), a U.S. Department of Homeland Security database.
‘Death of a Unicorn’ lacks imagination and thrills
Back in October 2023, a top agent stated in a Wrap article that A24 executive Noah Sacco was looking to expand into a mainstream audience, approaching various agencies in search of potential “big IP [intellectual property] projects.” The thought of A24 going “commercial” may seem bizarre, but it sadly makes sense. Where else could an independent studio go after releasing several Oscar-winning films? It’s a strategy that has become more apparent since the article’s release.
Chess team wins seventh President’s Cup, makes history
Webster University’s chess team made history earlier this month as the most successful collegiate chess program after topping the 2025 President’s Cup and winning its seventh national championship. The competition, hosted by the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), went down to the wire, but the Gorloks emerged triumphant by the barest of margins. On the opening day of the tournament, Webster played UT Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) and UT Dallas.

Students lead world’s largest student audio summit
Over a hundred footsteps echoed across the Sverdrup halls, unusual for the typically quiet Friday evenings. A hearty crew of students flew around, flagging down one another as they ensured everybody was on the same page about an event over eight months in the making — the world’s largest audio student summit. CRASS, the Central Regional Audio Student Summit, is an annual, weekend-long event that aims to further the interests and education of young audio engineers.

Termination of Webster international student visas leaves shaken community searching for answers
A wave of outrage has swept through the Webster Groves community following reports that more than 20 Webster University international students had their visas revoked or their student exchange records terminated. As the news circulated among members of a private Facebook group, Webster Groves Community Connection, users flooded the comments. “This is infuriating!!” wrote a former neighbor of Webster University who once rented rooms to international students.
