WERS (88.9 FM) is one of Emerson College's two radio stations (the other being campus station WECB), located in Boston, Massachusetts. Student-run and professionally managed, it serves eastern New England an eclectic mix of musical genres, and more live performances than any other station in the region. Programming features over 20 different styles of music and news, including live performances and interviews. WERS stands as the first non-commercial radio station in New England, and has been in operation since November 1949. Among the founders of the station was WEEI Radio program director Arthur F. Edes, who first taught broadcasting courses at Emerson in 1932 and helped to plan a campus radio station. The chief architect of WERS in its early years was Professor Charles William Dudley. Source

Out of all the standout songs on the album, “ we should talk,” checks all the right boxes for us. It is emotional, catchy, and you’re able to listen to it any time with ease, why wouldn’t you love it? At the center of this song is the relationship between the singer and someone that they have not seen in a long time.

Heatwave, back throwback for you. And one more. Tank and the Bangas is the last one. Oh, yeah. Great, band. I love my baby.
New Discoveries: Interpol “See Out Loud”
– Fenton Wright, Web Services Coordinator Something that I have anticipated for what feels like years at this point is another album from one of my favorite bands of all time, Interpol. The New York-based band has one of my favorite sounds in the modern post-punk/alternative scene. On “See Out Loud,” and leading into their album, The Mirror Weighs A Ton, Interpol have refound the sound that made them one of rock’s best bands.
Pick of the Week: Jesse Welles “Won’t You Come Out Tonight”
– Fenton Wright, Web Services Coordinator One of the most interesting things in folk music over the past couple of years has been the development of social media and musical sensation Jesse Welles. On “Won’t You Come Out Tonight,” Welles exchanges his traditional protest style of music to become more of a traditional love song with modern motifs embedded throughout. Sitting a little bit less than three minutes, Welles on this song makes his message clear from the beginning of the song.

On “We Might As Well Be Strangers,” somehow Weezer, in their 20+ year career, breaks new ground and discovers a fresh, modern indie sound with Wednesday. One thing that is undeniable about Weezer and Rivers Cuomo is that their sound has been timeless.
