WFAE (90.7 MHz) is a non-commercial public radio station in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is the main NPR news and information member in the Charlotte region. The station's main studios and offices are at Suite 91 on the ground floor of One University Place on J.M. Keynes Drive in the University City neighborhood of northeast Charlotte.[3] The WFAE Center for Community Engagement is located within within First Ward Park on 301 East 7th Street in Uptown Charlotte, where live shows and other community gatherings are held. Hurricane Simon nears Mexico with 155 mph winds and flooding fears
PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico — The eye of Hurricane Simon was just off the Pacific coast of Mexico early Sunday and was expected to move inland later in the day as an extremely powerful storm. Simon has strengthened to 155 mph (250 kph), only just below the threshold for becoming a Category 5 storm, the highest on the Saffir Simpson scale. It was about 60 miles (100 kilometers) west-southwest of Manzanilla and moving north-northwest at 6 mph (9 kph).
Pope Leo XIV to undergo lung surgery this week
Pope Leo XIV announced Sunday that he would have surgery this week to remove a "localized nodule" in his lung. Leo said the nodule was found at a "very early stage" with doctors recommending surgery. "Following their advice, I have therefore decided to undergo an operation to remove it," Leo said during his weekly Sunday noon blessing in St. Peter's Square. The surgery is due to occur at Rome's Gemelli Hospital, which is the primary location for popes to receive medical attention.
