As we celebrate the birth of the United States on Independence Day, a new study determined the least and most patriotic states. It may come as a surprise, but Michigan was ranked as one of the least patriotic states in the country. WalletHub ranked all 50 states based on factors such as military and civic engagement - effectively what each state is willing to do for their country selflessly. Michigan landed at No. 34 overall, or the No. 16 least-patriotic state.

Poison hemlock might look pretty but is actually a highly toxic plant. Poison hemlock can grow up to 10 feet tall with small white flowers clustered in umbrella-shaped patterns The stem is hollow with purple splotches, and the leaves resemble parsley. All parts of the poison hemlock plant are poisonous to humans and animals due to the presence of toxic alkaloids like coniine.

The Fourth of July is not even here yet, and one Michigan child has lost 4 fingers while lighting off fireworks at home. There is no doubt that kids love fireworks. Even adults enjoy fireworks and many like to light them off in their neighborhoods. When I was a kid I dreamed of getting a brick of firecrackers. The M-80 was a much more powerful explosive which was hard to come by at that time because you couldn't even buy these types of fireworks in Michigan.

They don't call us a "Water-Winter Wonderland" for nothing! The five Great Lakes that surround Michigan are as the largest freshwater system on the planet and hold 20% of the world's surface supply of freshwater. Shaped by glaciers nearly 10,000 years ago the Great Lakes are what make Michigan Pure Michigan. There's no place I'd rather be! However, after living out of state for several years I can't tell you just how much misinformation there is out there about the Great Lakes.

Located in Gration County, this tiny Mackinac Bridge attracts people from all over the state of Michigan. It truly is the tiniest version of the Mackinac Bridge that you can actually walk across. What makes this bridge so strange isn't just its size, but its location as well. The bridge sits above a small body of water at a storage facility. Seems like a strange spot for something so cool.
