WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR / WIRI) – The 13th Annual Swing Against Cancer in Wisconsin Rapids is happening at the Ridges Golf Course. Close to 180 golfers comprise the 43 teams participating in the golf event. Nine alumni players from the Brewers, Badgers, Green Bay Packers, other NFL players, and local celebrities will assist at different holes around the course.
A new otter exhibit is at the Wisconsin Rapids Municipal Zoo
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR / WIRI) – A new otter exhibit is drawing attention at the Wisconsin Rapids Municipal Zoo. The two otter brothers Petey and Copper were donated by the Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, Michigan. Zookeeper Ron Bodette told WFHR last week they have to change the otter’s pond water every two weeks. It’s currently a bit green from algae and due to be changed on Friday. However, Ron said they are planning to try otter-safe chemicals first.
Bucks trade Giannis and Portis to the Heat
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR / WIRI) – It is the end of an era for the Milwaukee Bucks as they sent future Hall of Fame player Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat for several players and draft picks. Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis will go to South Florida, while the Bucks receive Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jamie Jaquez Jr., and Kasparas Jakucionis. The Bucks also received the No. 13 first round draft pick in 2026 and the unprotected picks in 2031 and 2033.

William F. Huffman’s early dream brings historic election coverage in 1940 and again in 2024 while also celebrating 8 decades of local radio The timing is historic. The launch of WFHR Radio happened at the same time residents cast their votes in a pivotal presidential election. It was November 5, 1940. Incumbent Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt defeated Republican businessman Wendell Willkie to be reelected for an unprecedented third term in office.
