CLEVELAND — As much as the Guardians enjoyed the chance to reset during the All-Star break this week, manager Stephen Vogt noted Friday they were ready to get back to work and for the second act of their 2026 season to begin. Cleveland might be wishing it had a mulligan right now. The Guardians dropped their first series out of the break following a 7-1 loss to the Pirates on Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game series at Progressive Field.

A new community mural celebrating the people and history of Hancock County was dedicated at Brucklacher Memorial Park on County Road 236. The mural was created entirely by community members, with the oldest person participating 104 years old and the youngest only 1 month old. Emily Sullivan with Awakening Minds Art explains how their handprints, and many others, will be part of the mural forever.

Kwan smashed a double down the left-field line in the ninth, following Patrick Bailey’s leadoff single. Bailey was thrown out at home plate, but Bazzana immediately sent Progressive Field into bedlam with his walk-off blast. It was Cleveland’s 104th walk-off home run since Progressive Field opened in 1994; that’s 12 more than any other team in that span.

1:45 p.m. ET: Akron RubberDucks (CLE) vs. Binghamton Rumble Ponies (NYM) Jaison Chourio (CLE No. 5/MLB No. 98) and his ever-improving offensive skills lead Akron in this Double-A matinee. The younger brother of Brewers star Jackson Chourio has put together an excellent year after struggling in 2025. The 21-year-old had a .907 OPS at High-A and has carried that success over to Double-A, where he’s been one of the RubberDucks’ most consistent hitters since his promotion.

Martínez has spent most of his time in left (35 starts) and right field (18) this season, while mixing in some time in center (three). The Guardians’ outfield mix currently features DeLauter, Steven Kwan, and rookies Petey Halpin and Kahlil Watson, who has earned a window of opportunity since Martínez got hurt.
