CAIRO, Egypt – The Locarno Film Festival announced that Khufu, the winning film of the first edition of the “Eish” Short Film Competition launched by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), Zest and El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) in Egypt, has won the Pardino d’Argento (Silver Leopard) Arts3 Foundation award for the International Pardi di Domani Competition at the 79th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.

YANGON, Myanmar – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has launched an emergency response in Myanmar as monsoon floods threaten to push vulnerable communities deeper into hunger. The response has begun with distribution of fortified biscuits – a ready-to-eat food that contains essential energy and nutrients – in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region, where heavy rainfall since 30 July has breached river embankments and flooded villages and wards.

LILONGWE, Malawi - The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has signed an agreement with the Government of Japan for a contribution of JPY 300 million (USD 1.9 million) to provide critical food assistance for 170,000 food-insecure people during Malawi’s October to March lean season, when food stocks are low and families struggle to meet their daily food needs.
