GHACF Awards More Than $687,000 in Summer 2026 Community Impact Grants
Grand Haven, Mi (WGHN) – The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation is awarding more than 687-thousand dollars in Community Impact grants to organizations across Northwest Ottawa County. The grants will support programs focused on health, education, public safety, environmental sustainability, nonprofit services and other community needs. One of the largest grants, 114-thousand-500 dollars, is going to Resilience: Advocates for Ending Violence.

Brian Cranston To Present ArtPrize Awards

Americans Have Paid $100 Billion More On Fuel Since Start Of Iran War
(Providence, RI) – Americans have spent one-hundred-point-nine-billion-dollars more on fuel since the start of the Iran war. That’s according to Brown University’s Iran War Energy Cost tracker that has looked at fuel prices since the conflict started on February 28th. That total comes out to just over an additional 770-dollars per household. A little more than 55-billion-dollars of the total is from gasoline while just over 45-billion has been spent on diesel.
Average Gas Price Falls 12-Cents, Still Above $4
(Dearborn, MI) – The average price in Michigan for a gallon of gas is down 12-cents a gallon from last week, but it’s still over four-dollars. Triple-A Michigan says the average is now four-dollars-three-cents, 17-cents less than last month but 85-cents more than last year. A full 15-gallon tank costs 60-dollars on average in the state. Michigan’s highest price is in Ann Arbor at four-dollars-12-cents, and Grand Rapids has the lowest price at three-dollars-89-cents.
Thousands Of Incorrect IDs Mailed Out In Michigan
(Grand Rapids, MI) – The Michigan Secretary of State’s Office says people who received a driver’s license or state ID in the past week will soon get a replacement. Around 82-hundred licenses and identifications were sent out with a misprint, as vendor Idemia misprinted them with a stock photo and date of birth in the lower right-hand corner instead of the correct information. The SOS says the information on the ID is generic and is not anyone else’s data. The replacement cards are on their way.

South Haven Lifeguards Wrap Up 2026 Season With No Drownings
(South Haven, MI) — The first summer for lifeguards in 25 years in South Haven has come to an end with no drowning deaths in Lake Michigan. The city added the lifeguards at the urging of parents who lost their adult children to the lake in the past five years. The revived lifeguard program includes a chief lifeguard and a seasonal crew that is trained in first aid, water rescue and surf conditions. The lifeguards will remain on South Beach in South Haven in 2027.
