Bank of the Pacific Grandstand Entertainment Series; Maoli to Bring Hawaiian Country Hits
The Northwest Washington Fair is excited to announce that Hawaiian country singer, Maoli, will take the stage this summer! Known for his laid-back island sound, he will perform on Sunday, August 16, at 7:00 PM as part of the Bank of the Pacific Grandstand Entertainment Series. Presented by Moku‘aina A Wakinekona Hawaiian Civic Club. Rising star and Maui native, Maoli is making a name for himself with his unique blend of island reggae and country soul.
River Walk – Small Mammals & Birds – Track & Sign
Discover small tracks belonging to mammals of varying sizes from mice, mustelids, and rabbits, to possums, raccoons and other beautiful beings. We’ll walk along the Nooksack River looking for bird tracks (of all sizes) and learn how to differentiate them. We’ll talk about whatever other tracks we find once we get our primary lesson completed. This 3-hour course will enhance your ecological awareness and give you something to look for the next time you visit the riverside.

Sensory Workshop: Knowing Plants without Looking with Northwest Natura
Come take a walk through the forest to learn more about plants than just their names and visible features. In this course, get to know native plants by their textures and aromas with guidance on how to remember them in your own unique way. This workshop is unique: you’ll be encouraged to have a non-visual experience with each plant you meet. Have fun with a naturalist who can tell you endless facts about the plants you meet. You can describe textures, aromas, and tastes in as many words as you can.

We’re turning 22, and we’re celebrating the only way we know how: with audience suggestions, improvised comedy, and a little liquid courage. Shot Prov Birthday Bash is a one-of-a-kind improv show where anything can happen—and usually does. At 60, Bellingham Swim Coach Sets Two Records and Earns Three Podium Finishes at Nationals
Submitted by Bellingham Bay Swim Team Brad Jones is finding that 60 looks pretty good in a swim cap. The Bellingham swimmer and coach returned from the 2026 Long Course Masters National Championships in Sacramento with three top-three finishes, two new Pacific Northwest Masters records, and a few more reasons to keep getting up for those early morning workouts.
Fairchild Air Force Base Named for Bellingham Man
Military pilot Muir Stephen Fairchild served in two world wars and helped create the U.S. Air Force. Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane is named in his honor. Born in Bellingham, Fairchild kept lifelong ties to his hometown. Muir Fairchild was born September 2, 1894, in New Whatcom, later Bellingham. As his family was celebrating their only child’s birth, the city was threatened by a raging wildfire. Perhaps this was an omen for a life that would be marked with conflict.
