Sam Boardman’s signature long wavy hair and burly mustache set him apart in the world of professional cycling. They also make him easier to spot during races. “I keep my long hair and my mullet and mustache mainly as a way for my parents to see me and I can prove to them I’m doing what it is I say I’m doing,” he said. What Boardman is doing is racing road bikes around the world at an elite level. The Whitefish resident recently signed with the Modern Adventure Pro Cycling Team.

Glacier Park International Airport successfully reopened its primary runway ahead of schedule at 9 a.m. Friday, July 10, marking the completion of the runway rehabilitation’s first phased closure. From Monday evening through Friday morning, crews worked continuously for 88 hours to complete an intensive reconstruction effort. More than 150 workers representing 14 different companies collaborated around the clock to safely complete the work.

Big Sky Troubadours returns this summer with the inaugural edition of a new annual event series, Songwriters Behind the Headliners. The featured songwriters' work helped shape the careers of Chris Stapleton and Zach Top, this year’s Under The Big Sky festival headliners. The first installment, taking place July 11, will feature Nashville hitmakers Casey Beathard and Mark Nesler, two of country music’s most accomplished and respected songwriters.

One hundred participants completed the annual Whitefish Lake triathlon on June 27. The classic sprint triathlon features a 0.8-kilometer swim lap starting at City Beach, a 20K out and back bike ride along Wisconsin Avenue and East Lakeshore Drive, and a two lap 5K run loop around City Beach. Whitefish locals and repeat champs Ryan Seguine and Scarlet Kaplan won the event in 1 hour, 5 minutes, 47.8 seconds and 1:08:02.3, respectively.

Last week, ten Broadway professionals performed “The Great American Songbook” at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center. This week, it’s the students’ turn. On Wednesday and Thursday, July 8 and 9 at 7 p.m., the students of Alpine Theatre Project Broadway Summer Camp take the stage in “Unstoppable!” — a full musical production and the culmination of three weeks of intensive training in acting, singing, and dancing by working professionals from Broadway, national tours and television.
