The Whitefish volleyball team is gearing up for their quickly approaching season with the motto, "better together." “I’m really excited for this crew,” Whitefish Head Coach Addy Connelly said. Connelly is entering her tenth season as head coach. Her full roster is rather new to the varsity court. “Not a lot of varsity court experience again this year,” she said.

The American Red Cross of Montana recognized Trego volunteer Carylon Morgan with the Montana Chapter Engagement Award for her contributions. Carylon Morgan, of Trego, joined the Red Cross in August 2024 and serves as a disaster responder, duty officer, disaster training instructor and national caseworker. She also supports shelters, volunteer onboarding and Service to the Armed Forces.

Rescinding the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule threatens over 6 million acres of Montana’s pristine public forests. Stripping these critical safeguards invites industrial logging and road building into our last intact backcountry. As a lifelong Montanan, I know this rollback sacrifices our clean water, wildlife and outdoor heritage for short-term profit. I grew up in Columbia Falls, right at the doorstep of the Crown of the Continent.

Glacier National Park will host volunteer training for its annual Hawk Watch Program on Sept. 21 and Hawk Watch open house on Oct. 3. Each year in the fall, golden eagles migrate from northern breeding grounds to warmer climates for the winter. One of the most important North American golden eagle migration routes passes directly through Glacier National Park. Large numbers of other raptors also use this migration corridor during the fall and spring months.

The Whitefish City Council voted unanimously to adopt the 2026 Water Master Plan and the Wastewater and Stormwater Master Plan. The plans serve as a guide for the city to manage the water systems over the next 20 years. Water supply, distribution, storage infrastructure, and a forecast of future needs are included in the plan, along with a set of improvements to ensure safe, reliable and sustainable water service.

The roster is balanced and the grass is greener for the Bulldogs as they prepare for the football season opener against Havre on Friday. Boasting 60 team members, the Whitefish roster balanced across grades, although there are a good number of newcomers, between freshmen and a few athletes new to the sport or the school. Team captains are Luke Dalen, Braylon Dunn, Sam Rainford and Austin Alton.
