He told WHMI News that was the cause of a two-alarm house fire near M-59 and Oak Grove Thursday afternoon. "We had determined that it started at the rear of the house due to an electrical generator that was operating underneath a large wooden deck," he said. The home was on Laurel Oak Drive.

Rescue teams in Nepal pulled two workers alive from a hydropower tunnel nine days after catastrophic floods swept through the country, leaving more than 1,000 people dead and thousands more missing. Nepalese lawmaker Shri Ram Neupane told The Associated Press that searchers first heard men's voices in the tunnel on Friday morning. Images distributed by the Nepal Army showed a rescuer carrying one of the workers on his back while soldiers on either side helped.

A rock performance at a venue in Virginia was canceled Thursday after a man working on a tour bus in a nearby parking lot was crushed underneath it hours before the show, according to authorities. U.S. Park Police told rock band "Squeeze" was scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. that night. The worker was under the tour bus when officers arrived. Park Police said a supporting apparatus failed, causing the bus to come down on him.

Some saw the lights come back on Thursday, only to have more severe weather knock out their electricity again. "We're seeing widespread damage in the Howell/Brighton area," spokesman Jerry Tullio said during a press briefing Friday morning. "Anytime anyone loses power it is difficult, especially coming into a holiday weekend.
