Contest Rules and Guidelines We are now accepting submissions for our Baton Rouge Community Radio WHYR 96.9 FM 10-Year On-Air Anniversary T-Shirt Design Contest. The winning design will be printed on the official 10-Year On-Air Anniversary T-Shirt to be released and distributed to our listeners and supporters during our on-air pledge drive beginning June 24, 2021. Submissions deadline extended to May 21, 2021! Design Rules and Guidelines Design may not exceed 11” wide by 12” high.

Baton Rouge Community Radio WHYR 96.9 FM continues to broadcast unique and relevant programming on the airwaves throughout our city and beyond. As a volunteer-led, community-supported organization, we would not be able to do this without the continued support of individuals like you. This year, WHYR is participating in the 225GIVES campaign sponsored by the Capital Area United Way. Help us meet our goal of raising $10,000 by scheduling your donation between November 15th and November 30th.

On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, Baton Rouge Community Radio WHYR 96.9 FM will host its annual summer pledge drive to celebrate its 11th on-air anniversary. Throughout the day, tune in to hear specialty programs and special on-air mentions from our community radio show hosts. Supporters can visit our donation page to make a one-time or recurring monthly donation to support WHYR.

The League of Women Voters Greater Baton Rouge State Unit (LWVGBR) has released its Voter’s Guide for the November 2020 Elections. The League asked every candidate for positions in Baton Rouge for their biographical information, campaign links, and answers to questions related to the position that they are seeking. Ninety percent (90%) of the candidates responded.

WHYR is excited to announce that our radio station has been selected as the 2022 Grand Marshal for Mid City Gras! Mid City Gras is a celebratory parade highlighting the essence of Mid City and showcasing the diversity of our community with a spirit of inclusiveness that positively contributes to the progression of our city. This parade will roll on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 1 p.m. down North Blvd.

Four new shows are coming to Baton Rouge Community Radio starting Monday, March 1st. Additionally, two existing local shows are expanding from one to two hours. Starting on March 1st, on Monday mornings at 7:00am listen to For the Wild, a one-hour weekly syndicated show that describes itself “an anthology of the Anthropocene” and addresses issues like decolonization, ecological restoration, and social and environmental justice.

Beginning Saturday December 3rd, WHYR will host its annual end-of-year pledge drive. As you consider where to donate your dollars this season of giving, please know that WHYR counts on and deeply appreciates your support to sustain our station’s operations. Your support will allow WHYR to: Feature diverse, locally produced programming. Our talk programming informs listeners on important community issues including Metro Council votes, candidates for local office, and special events.

Baton Rouge Community Radio WHYR 96.9 FM is hosting its annual pledge drive from December 1, 2020 to December 3, 2020 to raise funds for station operations in 2021. Baton Rouge Community Radio’s mission is to be an open voice to inform, connect, amplify, and entertain the diverse communities of Baton Rouge. Our station continues to broadcast unique and relevant programming on the airwaves throughout our city and beyond.

This spring, we need your help to continue this important community work. On Thursday, May 4th, WHYR is participating in 225GIVES, a one-day online giving campaign for Louisiana’s Capital Region.
