Alfanar Group, through Alfanar Company and Alfanar Power Limited, has accepted a binding offer from KPI Green Energy Limited (KPI Green) for the sale of 100% of the equity and equity-like instruments of Alfanar Energy Private Limited and Netra Wind Private Limited. The two companies own the Bhuj-1 (301.4 MW) and Bhuj-2 (206.5 MW) wind projects in the Kutch wind corridor of Gujarat.

Researchers have developed a new experimental approach using highly pressurized wind tunnels that could help improve wind turbine performance and increase power generation from existing wind farms. The method is designed to reproduce the aerodynamic conditions experienced by full-scale wind turbines more accurately than conventional laboratory experiments. The research involved scientists from MIT, Queen’s University, Princeton University and Penn State University.

NTPC Limited has announced the commercial operation of 56.7 MW of additional wind power capacity in Gujarat through its renewable energy subsidiaries. The development was disclosed to the BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited in compliance with applicable SEBI regulations. The newly commissioned capacities became commercially operational with effect from midnight on September 22, 2026.

The Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) has partially allowed a review petition filed by Tata Power Company Limited concerning the interpretation of statutory powers under the Electricity Act, 2003, particularly the referral of electricity sector disputes to arbitration. The judgment was delivered on September 17, 2026, by a bench comprising Judicial Member Virender Bhat and Technical Member Ajay Talegaonkar.

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has invited online bids for the supply and installation of Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) for a 600 MW Interstate Transmission System (ISTS)-connected wind power project in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The project will comprise 200 wind turbine generators and will be awarded through a domestic competitive bidding process under a single-stage, two-envelope procedure.

ACWA Power is advancing the development of its 1.5 GW Kungrad wind project in Uzbekistan’s Karakalpakstan region, following the project’s presentation to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his visit to the region. The ceremony marked the launch and commencement of construction of several major development initiatives.

The Nordex Group has received a 91 MW wind turbine order from TEUT Energieprojekte GmbH for a new wind farm in Brandenburg, Germany. The contract also includes a Premium Service agreement covering a period of 20 years. The Schönermark-Passow wind farm will be developed near Schwedt/Oder in the Uckermark district of Brandenburg. The project will comprise 13 Nordex N163/6.X wind turbines. Each turbine will have a hub height of 164 metres.

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has invited bids for the development of a 215 MW wind power project in Madhya Pradesh. The project will be connected to a State Transmission Utility (STU) sub-station and will be developed under a comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract. The Invitation for Bids (IFB) was issued on September 15, 2026, under Bidding Document No. NRE-CS-5933-003-9.

Sturdee Energy has acquired the 200 MW Masaiti wind project in Zambia’s Copperbelt region, marking an expansion of its renewable energy development portfolio in Africa. The project is currently in the late development stage and is planned to connect to Zambia’s national grid through a nearby 330 kV transmission line operated by ZESCO. The acquisition covers project development activities from Upepo Holdings LLC through its local subsidiary, Upepo Energy Zambia.

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has directed the National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC) to process and issue pending Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to Tadas Wind Energy Private Limited (TWEPL) for electricity generated in July 2022. The Commission set aside the earlier decision of NLDC, which had rejected the company’s REC application because it was submitted beyond the prescribed timeline.
