A new era unfolded at Apple on Wednesday with its new CEO unveiling an iPhone the size of a passport that, well, folds. The device, called iPhone Duo, represents the most radical physical change to the iconic iPhone since Apple introduced the minimalist glass slab to the world nearly 20 years ago, kicking off the smartphone era. Apple's folding iPhone Duo can be opened and closed like a passport.

A member of the National Guard was arrested earlier this month in Washington, D.C., on felony charges for allegedly pointing his gun at a fellow guard member during a dispute over regulation hairstyles. According to an arrest affidavit filed in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, during the argument, Zion Mitchell, 21, a National Guard member from Georgia, drew his service revolver and pointed it at another soldier.

A federal judge in Miami denied Andrew and Tristan Tate's bail request on Wednesday, ordering them to remain in a detention center in Miami. The brothers, who were arrested in July, are fighting extradition to the U.K., where they face a total of 59 criminal charges, including rape and human trafficking for sexual exploitation. The brothers deny all allegations. Magistrate Judge Lauren F. Louis sided with prosecutors, who said Andrew and Tristan Tate pose a flight risk and are dangerous.

So I was thrilled to learn on a recent visit that the vasque — the cauldron — is still making regular appearances two years later, showing up all summer long in the nighttime Paris sky.
