The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders volleyball team traveled to Shawnee Thursday evening for a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River Division matchup. Both teams battled throughout the match, but the Raiders came away with a 3-0 victory. Benjamin Logan won the three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-12, and 25-23. The Raiders were led offensively by Georgia Daniels with 12 kills, followed by Summer Cline with 8 kills and Abby Vance with 6 kills.

The Riverdale Falcons boys’ soccer team took a 2-0 victory over Van Buren in a game that was live on WKTN. The victory boosts the Falcons’ record to 5-4-1 for the season. Riverdale has now won three in a row, gone unbeaten in their last four games, and allowed just one goal during that impressive run. Your Root Lumber Players of the Game were Cameron Snook for Riverdale and Gideon Webb for Van Buren.

Kenton Elementary PTO’s fundraiser kicked off yesterday. There will be lots of great prizes away as part of the fundraiser. Every purchase helps support Kenton Elementary. It gives the PTO the opportunity to provide more activities, experiences, and resources for the students. The Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance posted its latest Hardin County Community Spotlight. On the Alliance’s Facebook page and website, they are featuring local businesses that make each of the county’s communities unique. BLUFFTON, Ohio – Bluffton University nursing major Kate Stephens ’28 will present “Learning through Practice: Bridging Theory and Clinical Application” at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in the Musselman Library Reading Room. Stephens will discuss research focused on serving diverse patients through clinical experience and work-based learning. She presented the research at the Ohio Statehouse as part of the Choose Ohio First Scholar Showcase.

The next Hardin County Young Professionals meeting is scheduled for October 14. It will start at noon at the Sweet Note in Kenton. Hardin County Young Professionals is a group of young professionals aged 21 to 45. The group presents a great opportunity for networking, collaboration, and professional development. A test of the Kenton City Schools Emergency Alert System has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 29 at 1:00 pm. Several school district residents have voiced concerns over not receiving a phone call after a recent school delay. This test is designed to demonstrate to families how the district will communicate in an emergency situation, as well as to test the intended fix to that problem.

It’s time to start planning your float for the Kenton Lions Club: Ohio’s Biggest Small Town Christmas Parade, which kicks off the holiday season in Kenton. It will be held on Tuesday, November 24. Parade line up and staging will take place from 4:30-5:15 pm. The theme will be Red, White, & Christmas Lights. Officials request that walking groups and floats do not include a Santa in their group or on their float. There will be one Santa that will be at the very end of the parade.

Hardin County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Simon Kenton School thanked everyone who attended and supported inclusion at the All Abilities Show that was held in the Small Animal Show Arena on September 13. The event brings together children and adults with developmental disabilities to experience the joy of the show ring. Participants are paired up with Junior Fair Board mentors who volunteer their time during fair week to help them practice animal handling and showmanship skills.
