Rochelle Jordan has been raising the bar for pop stars since 2011. Incorporating a massive range of genres and styles from around the world including R&B, dance, soul, house, garage, and pop, Rochelle has created consistently solid bodies of work. Her latest, Through The Wall, continues to experiment with her eclectic sound while still staying contemporary and perfect for the club. My friend–and massive Rochelle Jordan fan–Ife and I had the honor of interviewing Rochelle for the station.

Last week, I got the chance to speak with Jamie and Matt from Eckø, a Scottish indie-rock band. We met via Zoom, Jamie and Matt on a sofa with a guitar, an Eckø banner, and a Celtic flag–the Glasgow Football Club, not the Boston basketball team–visible behind them. We spoke about the band’s formation, their songwriting process, their favorite gigs, and a few other things.

Claire Chicha, the frontwoman of spill tab, has been playing with the boundaries of indie rock and alternative rock for years now. With the release of her debut album ANGIE, she’s put on a complete display of her dynamic songwriting. I recently got to interview Claire while she’s been on tour, asking her about her thoughts on performing, the French, and how live music influences her artistry.

The multifaceted painter, singer, songwriter, and producer yeule has been making waves in the alternative scene over the past few years for their diverse palette of styles. On their latest record, Evangelic Girl is a Gun, the genre shapeshifter employs a unique blend of trip hop, shoegaze, and indietronica to fabricate a world of self-immolation. Their work acts like a future fossil, bringing together pieces of aesthetic nostalgia while building something greater than the sum of its parts.

Nilüfer Yanya has been a notable voice on the indie scene for a number of years now. She’s released captivating records, opened for Adele, worked with King Krule and Sampha, and done so much more. The British musician’s new record My Method Actor, which features the singles “Like I Say (I runaway)” and the eponymous “Method Actor,” comes out September 13 through Ninja Tune.

I saw and met them for the first time 4 years ago at the Gibson Showroom, a small venue in Miami, where the band is originally from. I had no clue what I was getting myself into, and I almost didn’t go to the event, but I am so glad that things worked out and was able to witness Mustard Service for the first time in all their glory.
