(Midwest) -- A Wisconsin will spend time in federal prison for wire fraud and money laundering committed across Iowa and Wisconsin. 64 year-old Stanley Pophal of Wausau, Wisconsin was sentenced to 96 months in federal prison after a multi-agency investigation uncovered a fraud scheme that defrauded 190 investors out of more than $14.25 million dollars. Investigators say Pophal began the scheme in May of 2019 when he started soliciting investors, promising at least a 20 percent return.
