Huff was the head coach of the Herd from 2021-2024, then left after a Sun Belt conference championship game win to go to Southern Miss for a lone season. After getting the Golden Eagles to the New Orleans Bowl, he left this offseason to go to Memphis.

(WMUL-FM) — The Marshall Thundering Herd women’s soccer team came into yesterday’s contest after a rough defeat at the hands of the High Point Panthers. Marshall (2-1) hosted Wright State (2-1) at Hoops Family Field in Huntington on Sunday, and to the dismay of Herd fans began with a first half goal from the visiting Raiders who took a one nothing lead in the 14th minute.

Women’s Soccer Preview By Anthony Doria, FM88 Sports Aug. 20, 2026 HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WMUL-FM) — Marshall Women’s Soccer (1-1) will wrap up their second game of the week as they welcome the Wright State Raiders (2-0-1) to Huntington on Sunday. This will be the 5th all-time matchup between these teams. Wright State leads the series at 2-1-1. Marshall was able to beat the Raiders for the first time last season, going on the road and picking up a 2-1 win.

(WMUL-FM) — No. 17 Marshall men’s soccer opens its 2026 regular season Thursday against Fairfield at Hoops Family Field, beginning a campaign in which the Thundering Herd enters with expectations to match its national ranking. Marshall finished 12-4-5 last season and made its seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The Herd was picked to finish second in the Sun Belt Conference preseason poll.

Da’Ron Parks, a 6-foot-5, 310-pound interior offensive lineman, signed with the Thundering Herd as announced on Monday. Highly regarded for his size and athleticism, Parks earned offers from dozens of Division I programs including Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, and Ohio State.

5 for 5 Rule Injunction By Anthony Doria, FM88 Sports Aug. 5, 2026 HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WMUL-FM) — A judge in Colorado has granted a class-wide preliminary injunction that orders the NCAA to allow all athletes who graduated from high school in 2022 to obtain a fifth year of eligibility under the new “5 for 5” rule. For context, the new “5 for 5” rule was passed by the NCAA in June of this year.

Marshall Athletes Sue NCAA By Anthony Doria, FM88 Sports July 10, 2026 HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WMUL-FM) — Twelve former Marshall University athletes are suing the NCAA over its new five-year eligibility rule approved last month, according to a lawsuit filed Monday. The complaint alleges that the NCAA made an exception to the new five-year eligibility rule for only one group of athletes who graduated high school in 2022. The athletes in the lawsuit claim they were excluded from the rule.
