Students can earn credit to work as a DJ, podcast creator, social media manager, station manager, and more. WNEC is open to students of all majors and the schedule is up to you! DJ T-Rex: Classic Rewind
Thomas Hawley is a sophomore from Avon, Connecticut with a major in History. Hawley aka DJ T-Rex is the host of the show Classic Rewind, which is a classic rock station that includes music from the 50s up until the present. This classic rock music is Hawley’s favorite type of music and has been what he listened to growing up.
Broadway Bops - WNECFM 91.7
“Broadway Bops” host Charles Simmons is a sophomore studying Elementary Education K-8 Liscensure. He has been with the station for three semesters. Simmons’ interest in musicals inspired the theme of his show, in which he plays some of the best songs from musicals, some examples of this include “Beetlejuice” and “Wicked”. “I think having a radio show is a really fun and once in a lifetime opportunity to have.
Peak Pop Playlist
First-year student Noah Bradford was a member of WNEC for his first semester at New England College and is back as a part of it for his second semester. His show “Peak Pop Playlist” has a nostalgic vibe, playing some of the most popular music from the late 2000s to the early 2010s. “My show is mostly like, the songs that I was most fond of when I was younger, as well as a few others that were from that time that I didn’t know as well but I came to love.
