WNSR (560 AM) is a Nashville-area Class D radio station operating on the AM frequency of 560 kHz. WNSR's majority owner is Randolph Victor Bell, and the station's general manager is former WSM personality Ted Johnson.
The station broadcasts a mixture of local and national sports events and local and national sports talk shows. It once served as the "backup" affiliate of the Nashville Predators NHL team, originating their games when the then-primary affiliate, WGFX-FM, had a conflicting commitment to the Vanderbilt University sports network. The station was also the former home of Nashville Sounds baseball, Nashville Metros soccer, Vanderbilt Commodores football games, and Vanderbilt Commodores men's basketball games. WNSR is currently the home of Vanderbilt women's basketball games and Vanderbilt baseball games. The station broadcasts Major League Baseball games as a member of the Atlanta Braves Radio Network. Brooks Jones was a monster Friday night, with 23 tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. MTCS had their hands full stopping Friendship Christian's running attack - RB - Tyson Wolcott. Brooks Jones and MTCS defense held Friendship Christian under 160 yards rushing on the night. Our MidState Checkdown HS Football "Player of the Week" is Braden Graham #12, quarterback for Riverdale High School. Braden Graham was electric on Friday night. The 1st offensive play of the game Braden launched a 72 yard bomb for a touchdown to Brock Montgomery #6. At the end of the 1st quarter Riverdale had a commanding lead over Rockvale, 21-0. Riverdale defeated Rockvale 41-6. Braden Graham finished the game on 14-15 passing, 325 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Disappointing night overall for Nashville that continues a troubling trend of now six matches in league play without a win. Nashville SC started with a much stronger lineup on Saturday night compared to how they lined up against Inter Miami.
Tigers Fall in South Bend
On Saturday, September 2 the Tennessee State University Tigers football team strapped on the pads and headed out onto the field to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in South Bend, Indiana. This matchup is one never seen before; this is the first time Notre Dame has faced an HBCU school. Not only that it is the first time they have faced a school at the FCS level. The Irish received the opening kickoff from the Tigers and got their offense rolling right away.

Our MidState Checkdown HS Football "Player of the Week" is Kaedyn Marable, quarterback at (BGA) Battle Ground Academy. This match up against Nashville Christian was Kaedyn's 2nd career start at quarterback. Kaedyn showed great poise running the BGA balanced offense. He went 16-24 / 174 yards passing, with an additional 30 yards rushing. BGA's offense was extremely efficient, they went the entire game without a punt.

Lionel Messi showed just how good he still is with a stunning 1st half-goal and ice-cold penalty kick as he won the Golden Boot & MVP for this Leagues Cup tournament.
