Most beautiful player | Ian Wright It's very difficult to look past Ian Wright. We spent three years together at Crystal Palace during the years where he developed into the player he was at Arsenal. He was so skilful and a fabulous player. I was playing behind him in midfield and he would make an average ball from myself look like a worldie and he’d go and score a goal.

First memories The first game I remember watching the national team when I was younger was in 2010 when Portugal played against Spain in the round of 16. I was at home but my father was out fishing and he came back before the game started with this big box of fish and it absolutely smelt the house out. I will always remember that. The cup tie will take place over the weekend of 8th/9th August, meaning it will be Cesar Peixoto’s first competitive match in charge of Wolves. The Molineux tie will be the first time the two clubs have met in the League Cup since 1984, when Wolves won 2-1 on aggregate over two ties. Wolves’ return to the Championship means it’s the first time they’ve competed in round one of the competition since 2017.

Wolves will begin the 2026/27 Sky Bet Championship campaign under the Molineux lights against Blackburn Rovers. The Old Gold will kick off the EFL season on Friday 14th August, 8pm kick-off, against the Lancashire side live on Sky Sports, while Cesar Peixoto’s first away league game in charge will come at Preston North End the following weekend.

The Cornwall-born defender joins on a two-year deal from July 1st following her departure from Burnley earlier this month, bolstering Dan McNamara's defensive options ahead of the new campaign and bringing with her a reputation for consistency, leadership and defensive reliability at the highest level of the women's game. Matthews began her career with Bristol City and has gone on to make over 150 appearances in the Women's Super League.

The first three Wolves Women's players have committed to professional contracts ahead of the side's first ever campaign in WSL 2. Following contract offers made over the summer, Abbi Jenner, Amber Hughes and Beth Roberts have all committed their futures to the Old Gold, signing professional deals with the club for the first time.

On Monday – Windrush Day 2026 – crowds flocked to St Patrick’s Park to recognise the immense contribution made by the Windrush generation to the city over the past 78 years and we hear from the event on the latest podcast.
