BEIJING, CHINA — China’s soybean production is expected to drop slightly to 20.1 million tonnes in 2026-27 due to a smaller planted area, but it continues to purchase US soybeans in accordance with the Busan agreement, according to a report from the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the US Department of Agriculture. China resumed US soybean purchases following the October 2025 meeting in Busan, South Korea, where a trade and economic deal was reached to suspend certain retaliatory measures.

LOUIS, MISSOURI, US — Bunge Global SA is planning for the retirement of Matt Simmons, controller and chief accounting officer, naming Richard James, currently vice president, finance integration and transformation, as his successor. In a Sept. 1 filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Bunge said Simmons notified the company of his intention to retire, effective March 31, 2027.

NEW DELHI, INDIA — The government of India said more than 180,000 tonnes of grain storage has been added across the country during the expansion phase of its Decentralised Grain Storage Plan in Cooperative Sector strategy. The plan, launched in 2023 and supported by government financing initiatives, is designed to improve storage, processing, procurement and distribution systems through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS).
