It is the first time the company’s evoBuild low carbon concrete containing both evoBuild low carbon cement – part of its range of carbon captured cements – and evoBuild low carbon GGBS has been used in the UK. Its use results in a carbon saving of 35% over standard CEM I while providing improved durability. The company is also supplying evoBuild low carbon concrete containing its waterproofing system to protect the basement floors from water ingress.

Holcim, Marshalls and Goldbeck commit to Vateris GypCarb® (Calcium Carbonate) for construction materials, while Waypoint and two major fertiliser manufacturers with global presence secure Sulphate of Potash for fertiliser markets, combining binding Demonstration Plant volumes with Main Plant Letters of Intent.

Fortera and MLC have signed an agreement to develop a commercial facility designed to produce more than 300,000 tons of low-carbon ReAct cement annually. Fortera's ReCarb technology will capture industrial carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from MLC's production of high-calcium lime, converting the CO2 directly into ready-to-use cement. The project adds domestic cement production capacity in the United States, where imports currently account for roughly a quarter of annual cement consumption.

Cool Planet Technologies has announced that its 10 000 tpy carbon capture plant at Holcim’s Höver cement facility in Germany has been officially opened by Lower Saxony's Minister-President Olaf Lies and Stephan Hinrichs, CEO of Holcim Germany. The project is intended to serve as a blueprint for climate-neutral industry in Germany, demonstrating a solution that is scalable, economically viable, and capable of safeguarding jobs.

Members of Parliament have backed Breedon’s policy asks for Government to provide greater support for UK domestic cement production, with new research of a representative sample of MP’s views of the British Cement industry showing strong cross-party support. The findings come as Breedon continues its “Back British Cement” campaign, that aims to ensure a sustainable future for domestic cement manufacturing and the delivery of vital construction, housing and infrastructure projects.

Holcim has announced Adham El Sharkawy as the new Chief Executive Officer of its UK business. He has taken up his position as of 1 September 2026. Adham is appointed UK CEO following a successful career with Holcim Group which spans 18 years, most recently as CEO of Holcim’s business in Algeria.

Heidelberg Materials UK has opened a new recycling facility in Leeds. The facility accepts wastes from construction, demolition and excavation (CD&E) projects, including bricks, concrete and soil as well as selected wastes from utilities contracts. It has the capacity to process around 250 000 tonnes of waste a year and is part of Heidelberg Materials’ commitment to promoting the circular economy.
